Bobby’s Bay Bridge Adventure!
American Hat Makers truly has some of the greatest supporters in the world. We’re always hearing awesome stories about the places our hats go. Today, I wanted to share the story of Bobby Boucher, and I’m not talking about the waterboy! Bobby and his wife Paula are members of Golden Gate H.O.G. That’s Harley Owners Group for those wondering. On 4th of July in 2011, Bobby got himself one of our now limited edition top hat designs. To say that this hat became his best friend and travel companion would be an understatement. He logged over 300,000 miles wearing this top hat to all corners of the globe. I’m talking Sturgis Bike Rally, the majority of the U.S states, and a bike tour of Australia. He even got married in it!
If he was on foot, he always had his top hat on, but as for riding, Bobby always hung his hat from the cup holder on his bike for easy travel. Not too long ago, Bobby was out for a ride on the Bay Bridge in California taking his new bike for its inaugural ride. This bike had a different cup holder attached to it, but never-the-less Bobby tried to hang his hat from it while they were on the road. Unbeknownst to Bobby, this new cup holder couldn’t grip the hat tight enough to keep it secure. As the group was crossing the massive bridge, Bobby’s iconic top hat flew off into oncoming traffic. Other members of the group tried to convince Bobby to chock it up as a loss and move on, but Bobby wasn’t having it. Determined to get his hat back, Bobby and the group turned around at the other end of the bridge, and went back across. Luckily, they were able to find Bobby’s beloved hat, but unfortunately the Bay Area’s trucks and cars found it first.
Now we’ve seen some well worn hats, but let me tell you, this hat was BEAT UP. It hardly even looked like a hat! Bobby knew he needed to make a pit stop by our factory to show us the damage and to share this awesome story. We’re lucky enough to have a team of the world’s finest leather artisans here at American Hat Makers, and we were able to resurrect Bobby’s precious hat and make it look like new. Here’s to another 300,000 miles! Â

Check out Chapel Hats! You won’t regret it!
Chapel Hats is one of many fantastic companies we have the absolute pleasure of partnering with, and recently they sent in some pictures of their beautiful locations and the great way they showcase our hats! American Hat Makers is honored to be displayed in the 16 unique Chapel Hats stores, which are located all over the world. They pride themselves on working with architectural salvage companies in order to use materials such as reclaimed wood and iron to build their shelving, cash wrap stations, tables, and more! No Chapel Hats store will look alike. Interestingly, their first location was primarily built using salvaged wood from a vintage church, which gives them the perfect name!  All of their locations also prominently feature antiques in their displays like hat boxes, old radios, phonographs and tons of other interesting pieces to showcase all of the styles they carry. The team at Chapel Hats is always such pleasure to work with, and the energy they have at each of their wonderful locations means that you will always have a remarkable experience when you visit. Check out all of the awesome ways they display our hats below!Â

Ana’s Baby Shower!
One of our amazing team members, Ana, is expecting a new addition to the family next month. Everyone at American Hat Makers is excitedly awaiting the arrival of the newborn, so we decided to show our love for Ana and throw her a baby shower! We always take the opportunity to show our appreciation and support of all of our team members, and were grateful to be able throw an awesome party in celebration of Ana. All in all, it was an awesome day spent celebrating our beloved team member and this new chapter in her life. Here are some pictures we took at the party!

Cemi Guzman and Alexandra Vino helped us out with a photo shoot!
We recently had an absolutely fantastic photo shoot with the wonderfully talented models Alexandra Vino and Cemi Guzman! The amazing designer Ruby Roxanne met up with them in L.A at a beautiful residence, and took it from there. Ruby’s eye for fashion and the technique of a master photographer, paired up with Alexandra and Cemi’s photogenic attitude made this photo shoot a real success. We had an absolute blast, and the photos we received were gorgeous! If anyone was meant to model our hats, it was them!

GBK Gifting Suite: ESPY’s!!
We just got back from the ESPY’s and we had a total blast! For those that don’t know, the ESPY’s are awards currently presented by the American Broadcast Television network ABC, and previously ESPN, to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performances. We met so many amazing, talented and fun individuals! Every GBK event is always so fulfilling, we absolutely love sharing our passion of making hats with everyone we come across! Here’s some pictures from while we were there!

Company Culture: Keeping it weird!
Here at American Hat Makers we emphasize the importance of promoting a healthy work environment, because in our minds a team-member who is happy and healthy will always put their best foot forward. It says right in our #3 Core Value that by being a family owned and operated business, we make it a point to treat everyone we interact with as we would treat our loved ones.
We do this by frequently hosting big parties for our team-members and their families, so that they can enjoy bonding with each other over some good food and fun games. This week was a big one, on Friday we had a big barbecue at our CEO’s house, where we had sack races, a pie eating contest, an egg toss, a raffle, and a volleyball tournament!
Then, on Tuesday, we had a beach themed party at our factory where we grilled burgers and had a costume contest! Many of our team-members brought their families and all in all, each of us had a fantastic few days having some fun with our co-workers! Check out the video at the top of the article for some of the highlights!
