Ruby Roxanne constantly raises the bar for what defines an artisan designer. There’s hardly a more inspired, driven, and talented designer out there. We here at American Hat Makers are always so excited to see what her next evolving hat collection will be. Ruby was invited to be a part of a groundbreaking event at the SOMArts Cultural Center in San Francisco on Saturday, May 4th. The first ever San Francisco International Art Salon is going to feature over 80 international artists, musicians, fashion designers, photographers, models and performers to create this magical event. In their own words, the goal of this event is to bring you an unforgettable artistic, spiritual experience and to repair the broken bridge between the creatives and the patronage. I could go down the list of the night’s highlights but it would take hours, however I will mention that there will be a magnificent fashion show produced by Pivot. Bottom line, you don’t want to miss out. As for our girl Ruby, she will be displaying her iconic leather mermaid wearable art piece for only the 3rd time ever publicly. However, this time, the outfit will have a jaw dropping twist. Ruby’s goal with the outfit is to promote Clean Oceans Matter, which is very close to Ruby’s heart. Maintaining and expanding knowledge of this environmental emergency for our marine life is very important to Ruby. Don’t miss out on your chance to attend this once in a lifetime event and support local artists and designers along with the many international icons!
Here at American Hat Makers, having fun is just as important as handcrafting the world’s finest hats. One of the principles this company was founded on was the philosophy that we not only treat our customers like family, but our team members too! 2019 has been a phenomenal year for us, and we wanted to celebrate by taking our team up to have a day in the snow! Last Friday we closed up shop, piled onto a bus, and headed up north to Leland Snow Park for a jam packed day sledding, throwing snowballs, and making snow angels. This is something we have been talking about for a long time, and we’re so happy we were finally able to do it; the majority of our team had never even been to the snow! We had so much fun and we can’t wait to go again!
Well, it’s just about that time! My tenure as President of the Headwear Association is winding to an end. It has been an absolute honor and blessing to be part of such an amazing organization. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to serve this term as president, and I am looking forward to many more years of the Headwear Association honoring all of us in the hat world. I want to congratulate Gerry Miller for becoming the next President of this fine association, and all of us here at American Hat Makers look forward to seeing the new heights to which Gerry will take us!
Sincerely, Garth Watrous
